Puzzle! S2E9 Rollin’ Thunder – Villains and Dragony Shields
THE GAME STATE:
***SEE SPECIAL RA’S INSTRUCTIONS BELOW***
There are high jinks afoot! Clinging to 1 Life, Player A has one final shot to pull off a victory, while player B is sitting comfortably at 19 Life and is ready to come plowing through with a Breath Weapon 2 Aurinax (and to add insult to injury, has a couple of Uncommon Fenthazas in Prep) on their next turn.
Things look grim for Player A, but there’s hope! Earlier in the game, Player B fielded their Shriek and named Player A’s Owlman, so Owlman’s text is currently ignored. Player A has 2 level 2 Uncommon Ace The Bat Hounds, a level 3 Elektra: Way of the Stick, a level 3 SR Owlman, a level 1 SR Lady Deadpool and a level 3 The Joker: Red Hood in the Field Zone. In their Reserve Pool they have 2 sidekick dice on their Shield faces and 1 on a Mask face. There is a Ra’s al Ghul die on it’s double Mask side and a Confront the Mighty BAC die rolled to it’s Action Face as well as a Rare Danger Room, also rolled to it’s Action Face. In the Used Pile, Player A has a Ra’s die and a Danger Room die.
Can you find the win?
** PLEASE NOTE: While designing this puzzle we came across an interesting interaction, which we believe requires a ruling. The Rare Danger Room states, “All character dice lose their affiliations and gain the Villain affiliation (until end of turn)”.
The Ra’s al Ghul global states, “Global: Pay Mask. Target character card loses the Villain affiliation (until end of turn)”.
When someone uses the rare Danger Room all the active DICE gain the Villain affiliation, but do the associated cards gain that affiliation as well? If so, would a single use of the Ra’s global, remove the Villain affiliation from multiple active dice of the same character because it targets the card? If rare Danger Room only grants the Villain affiliation to dice and not to their associated cards, would the Ra’s global used on a card have no effect on the related dice?
For the sake of this puzzle (and because we don’t have an answer to these questions yet) we are going to play the Ra’s global intentionally incorrectly as if it stated, “Global: pay Mask. Target character DIE, loses the Villain affiliation (until end of turn)”.
